Remembering the Women Grow Leadership Summit 2016

The Women Grow Leadership Summit is not just an unprecedented gift to female entrepreneurs of and interested in the cannabis industry – It is also a lesson in the old adage, “Where there is a will there is a way.”

In 2015, just one year ago, the Woman Grow Leadership Summit hosted close to 200 women, a potent but relatively small group. That is in contrast to the over 1,200 ticket-holders who walked through the doors this year at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in February. Their goal? To learn from, be inspired and connect with by some of the best in the industry.

Part of the reason attendance was booming this year, no doubt, is that Women grow expanded their ticket options. In 2015 the summit was held at a private resort, so ticket costs factored in and included room and board, all food and drink and activities and transportation around the Colorado resort. The 2016 summit however, acknowledged that not all small business owners and hopefuls have the bank to take such a lavish “workcation” and made changes to solve that problem.

The most budget friendly tickets of the spectrum were the Newcomer tickets at a final price of $249. These tickets included the Lighting Talks and were generously donated to scholarship attendees.

Networker tickets were a tier higher and included the above talks as well as a networking breakfast hour and access to the networking lounge. The final cost for this option was $499.

The most inclusive tickets were labeled Leader and were all access for the ticket holder. All of the above talks, meals and 24-hour networking lounge privileges included as well as a keynote welcome dinner, more lengthy in-depth talk sessions, yoga and a special gift bag and name tag. The final cost of the Leader package was $1499.

All three levels were privy to rousing speeches from several women including musician and cannabis-infused wine entrepreneur Melissa Etheridge. From a venture capitalist in a Wonder Woman costume – to woman of color urging us all to keep showing up, to a cannabis testing lab founder who lost her business but feels she is ultimately better off with the lesson learned.

The Women Grow 2016 Leadership Summit provided 1,200 women with the chance to make a connection, become more educated on the industry and empower themselves and each other. The talks were full of inspiration, dedication, entrepreneurial spirit and female empowerment. The connections made were invaluable.

We can’t wait to see the fruits of the seeds sown this year.
